This bizarre looking fruit makes the perfect citrus kick for a syrup. This fruit smells like a yellow starburst and it looks like a sea creature but if you’re willing to experiment, some good things can come of it.
2 cups water
2 cups sugar
1 cup grated Buddha’s Hand
1 tsp cloves
Combine sugar and water into a sauce pan and bring to a boil. This is your simple syrup. Reduce heat to a summer and add grated Buddha’s hand and cloves. Add more of the fruit or cloves to enhance flavor. Let simmer for 20-30 mins. Use a strainer to separate liquid from fruit. Use a swing top or other storage container to keep your syrup. Store in the fridge.
This syrup can be a refreshing addition to a cold drink- just mix with ice and tonic water or other fizzy concoction. Or you can use it in a cocktail, as we’ll have the Hog put something together for you in our next cocktail post.
Have you ever used Buddha’s hand before?
